President / CEO of First Abilene Federal Credit Union Named
The First Abilene Federal Credit Union Board of Directors announces the promotion of Mrs. Megan Allred as the organization’s new President/Chief Executive Officer.
“Megan’s time employed by the credit union has been the epitome of commitment, dedication and professionalism. Megan is a dynamic and engaged leader that we believe will do an exceptional job leading our organization,” said Mark Huffington, Chairman of the Board.
Megan began her career at First Abilene FCU in 2011 as the Business Development Manager and served as the Chief Operations Officer since 2018. In July of 2018, she received her Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation from the distinguished Southwest CUNA Management School, where she graduated with honors.
“Growing up, ‘we will just call the credit union’ was a common phrase in our home when it was time for vacation, a new car, or when unexpected expenses happened. Looking back on those moments now, as an adult, I realize the important role the credit union played in my family’s story. My parents had a place they trusted and could rely on during the anticipated and unexpected that comes with raising a family. I am grateful to now have the privilege of leading that same credit union, and I am dedicated to continuing to serve families with the same level of service and compassion that has been shown to members over the last 60 years,” said Megan.
The President/Chief Executive Officer plans, directs, and controls all credit union activities in accordance with credit union plans, policies, directives, and activities as established by the Board of Directors, while providing strategic direction, vision, leadership, and management in all functional areas.
“I am reminded daily how exciting a time this is for our team and our members. The Credit Union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ is as true today as it was 100 years ago. I will work diligently to make sure the communities First Abilene serve grow stronger by providing quality products and services to ensure our member’s financial needs are met, thus providing a strong foundation for prosperous and productive lives,” added Megan.
Megan is an active member of our community, serving on the Board of Directors for United Way of Abilene, Legends Dove Hunt benefitting the Hendrick Children’s Hospital, Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health, Abilene Cultural Affairs Council and Abilene Operation Blue Santa. She is married to Abilene Police Officer, Jake Allred. In their free time, they enjoy traveling and raising their herd of Texas Longhorn.
