First Abilene FCU Announces Chief Risk Officer
The First Abilene FCU Board of Directors is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Paula Clowdus to Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
Paula has worked at the credit union since 1998. She has served in various positions including: Teller, Data Processor, Operations Manager, Loan Officer and Branch Manager before being promoted to Compliance Officer in 2015. Clowdus has extensive experience developing and managing risk strategy and regulatory interactions, and participating on executive leadership teams. In her role as Chief Risk Officer, Clowdus is accountable for the credit union’s risk management operations. She also provides supervision in the areas of audit, loss prevention and compliance.
Paula is a native Abilenian and Abilene Cooper graduate. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas and is a Southwest CUNA Management School graduate. Clowdus is a CUNA certified Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE).
The Board of Directors said “We are pleased to have a person with Paula’s experience on our team. The credit union recognizes her hard work, loyalty, and dedication over the years and acknowledges all her contributions in making First Abilene what it is today. She will play a key role in First Abilene’s ongoing commitment to creating value for our members while ensuring the Credit Union’s safety and soundness.”
Paula graduated from the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Leadership Abilene program where she continues to serve on planning committees. She is a Meals on Wheels, Children’s Miracle Network and West Texas Rehab Center volunteer, Bryce Kennedy Memorial Treasurer, Day Nursery of Abilene Board Member and United Way of Abilene Community Impact Review Team Member.
